Attendance Matters

We take seriously our shared responsibilities of working together as a community, striving for excellence in all we do and ensuring that the school community is valued for who we are and who we can become.

Through high academic and personal expectations, we inspire our students to enjoy their time here and ensure that they leave fully prepared for the next phase of their lives, reflecting on the importance of attendance and belonging.

Please read our Attendance Matters Booklet for information on the roles and responsibilities of students, families and the Academy.

Requesting a Leave of Absence

A request for Leave of Absence must be made via our Leave of Absence Request Form which should be returned to the Academy at least FOUR weeks before the start of the leave requested.

Regulations state that leave of absence cannot be authorised for the purpose of a family holiday during term time. Leave of absence during term time may only be granted by the Headteacher if there are exceptional circumstances.  Where exceptional circumstances are to be considered, relevant evidence e.g. from an employer will need to be provided.

If a request for leave is refused and your child is still taken out of school, this will be recorded as an unauthorised absence and noted on your child’s attendance record. This may result in a Fixed Term Penalty Notice.

Further information on the importance of attendance can be found in the policies area.
