The Trustees of the Academy are seeking an Assistant Headteacher (AHT) to lead on our Personal Development portfolio. The Assistant Headteacher (Personal Development) is responsible for the development and implementation of our pastoral strategy including management of student transitions, tutoring, student voice and the overall community journey through the Academy. The role oversees the spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) curriculum as well as leading programmes to allow students to understand their place and opportunities in the world beyond our walls.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the AHT will also join in the leadership and management of all shared SLT responsibilities. AHT roles normally hold a teaching allocation of around 18-20 periods per 50 period fortnight.

Ansford is an inclusive school of around 550 students, with intake from the rural town of Castle Cary and its surrounding villages. We are a community school at heart with a central role in developing the lives of the young people in our care.

Design Technology Technician

Contract Type: Temporary Contract Term: TTO – Term time only Hours per Week: 20.00 Weeks per Year: 38.000 Pay Grade: 13/14

We are seeking a Technician to work within our Design and Technology (DT) team. The DT curriculum covers Product Design, Textiles, Food and Catering.  The purpose of the role is to support staff in the day to day running of the department by providing technical assistance.  It is a busy and varied role, with the potential to develop a wide range of skills.

The role is offered at Grade 13 or 14 depending on experience.  Whilst experience of the tasks listed would be an advantage, the nature of the role would suit someone willing to learn on the job, who is keen to develop skills and enjoys a wide variety of tasks of a practical nature. For technical aspects of the role, training by qualification will be offered. 

The role is allocated 20 hours per week which is likely to be split over 5 school days (ie 4 hours a day),  largely within the school day hours of 8.45 – 15.45.  There will also be a need to attend a couple of training days during the year.  You will be required to be available during the entirety of term time and annual leave is deemed to be taken during school closure periods. In recognition of this you will be paid for 38 term time weeks plus 5.5 weeks in lieu of annual leave and bank holidays.

The post is temporary until 31/08/2025 but there is strong likelihood that the contract may be extended beyond that point.

Exam Invigilators (Casual)

The Academy has a strong team of invigilators that help make the success of students in exams possible. We welcome applications for invigilators throughout the year, with our main exam periods being prior to Christmas and in the Summer Term.

To invigilate exams, you’ll need to balance handling nervous students with effective supervision of the exam room, ensuring the risk of misconduct or disruption is minimised. It’s an important task; we’re looking for enthusiastic invigilators with common sense, accuracy, attention to detail, and a willingness to provide the best examination experience possible for our students. You must be reliable and punctual, with a flexible attitude to work and good communication skills.

students in our school. Governors work closely together and play a vital role in the strategic
direction of the school, working with the Headteacher and other senior members of staff to ensure that each of our students can reach their potential and be the best they can be. You will be able to develop and learn new skills in a board-level environment, take on different challenges and work as part of an established and successful Governing Board.

Governors need not be experts in the field of education. What they do need is an interest in the school and the welfare of its students, together with the time, energy and willingness to get involved. As well as attending Full Board meetings, attendance at committee meetings is also required. We are particularly interested in self-nominations and expressions of interest from individuals with experience and skills in the following areas:
